  • Ferments food waste quickly so it can be easily added to your composter
Description

The Bokashi Bin is an innovative way to store and ferment your kitchen food waste. You can add in any meat, fish, dairy products and any other organic material for composting, where it will ferment thanks to the specially formulated accompanying Bokashi Bran.

Each time you add food waste to your Bokashi Bin, sprinkle on top a handful of Bokashi Bran and compact down with the accompanying push tool. The Bokashi Bran includes molasses which are infused with beneficial micro-organisms that begin to break down the food waste. The mixture also suppresses pathogens, stopping your waste from rotting or emitting foul smells.

With this double pack, you'll never run out of space as you can leave one Bokashi Bin to ferment whilst filling up the other.

Once your Bokashi Bins are full, empty them onto your compost pile, or dig the fermented food waste straight into the ground. Because the food waste will already have fermented, it will decompose quickly once in a compost heap, or in garden soil.

As well as fermenting your food waste, the Bokashi Bins also produce a liquid fertilizer, which can be diluted and used to nourish your plants as it's packed with beneficial microbes.

The Bokashi Bin is intended to be kept in the home but can be kept outdoors. If left outdoors the process can slow down during the colder months.

    Key Point

    • Don't be surprised when your Bokashi Bin arrives as a duo.

The Bokashi Bin comes as a twin pack to optimizes its fermentation process, as one bin can be used for fermenting food, as you fill up the other, doubling the amount of food waste you can save in one cycle.

    • I can't fit my Bokashi Bin Lid- it seems too small for the bin!

The Bokashi Bin Lid fits very snugly, and so at first glance it may seem too tight to fit onto your Bokashi Bin at all. But rest assured, it will clip into place. Instead of pressing down on the whole lid, focus on clipping each ridged corner into the bin edges, one by one and you should see the lid lock into place with ease.
